- Low Cost to Caller.
Having a 0871 number means that prospects can call your business from anywhere in the UK paying a flat rate of 8p or 10p per minute depending on the range chosen.
-
Non-Geographic. 0871 numbers are non-geographic. You can target a national audience since the telephone number stands independent of your location, and nobody knows whether you are in London or Land’s End, Blackpool or Brighton. And if your office is in New York, people will think you also have a UK office. You obtain true national / international coverage without the need to set up local branches.
- National
and International Coverage. A 0871 number allows for both national and international coverage. Most, but not all overseas callers will be able to access your 0871 number if using a major carrier in their home country. If they are using a low cost carrier they may not be able to, so it is always best to give your overseas clients the option of calling you on a UK landline or mobile number.
- Revenue Share. Unlike 0844 / 0845 numbers we are able to offer a revenue share on 0871 numbers. This will vary depending on cost to caller and your traffic volumes. You should also be aware that from January 2008, 0871 numbers will come under the jurisdiction of ICSTIS, the authority charged with regulating premium rate numbers. As yet ICSTIS has given no indication of any terms or conditions that it intends to apply to companies holding 0871 numbers so all we can say is ‘watch this space’.
- Portable.
0871 numbers are portable. This means that the number stays with your business even if you move from one end of the country to the other – or even overseas. Your underlying geographic number will change but your 0871 number never changes. Extra costs apply for overseas mapping. Over the past few years we’ve had clients move from the UK to various countries and we’ve been able to allow them to take their non-geographic number.
- Give Staff Their Own DDI
Lines. At our low cost rates you can afford to assign a separate number to each staff member. If a staffer is sent to another branch or office his/her personal 0871 number can go with them. For large quantities of numbers discounts can be discussed.
- A Lifetime
Number.
0871 numbers are designed to last for many years no matter what happens to the underlying geographic numbers. Calling costs may come down but the numbers will remain.
- Reduced
Advertising Costs. A 0871 number reduces your advertising costs in that you need only publish enough information to attract a prospect’s interest, inviting them to phone for a local store directory, brochure or further information. By having one national number you will not have to publish the name and phone number of every local branch thus saving costs on valuable ad space.
- No Set-up
Charges. We charge a small line rental, from as little as £18.75 every 3 months (£6.25 month) to cover our operational costs.
- Choice of
Numbers.
You may select your number from a wide choice at no extra charge. BT charges up to $300 if you want to select your own number.
-
No Incoming
Call Charges.
In fact we pay a revenue share (see above).
-
No Charge for Remapping a Number.
BT charges £50 for a remap (slow) or £100 for a fast remap. We allow two remaps per year at no charge.
-
Mailbox Answering. This is possible with some of our carriers whereby you can acquire a voice mailbox along with your new number so that messages are left in your mailbox by callers. You can then access remotely. Extra charges for this service apply.
-
Gradual Introduction. A 0871 number can be gradually introduced to your customer base with no sudden changes. Existing customers can still reach you either on your normal geographic code (e.g. 020 xxxx) or on your new non-geographic number. Your aim should be to eventually have everyone calling on your 0871 number thus making notification of any landline changes unnecessary.
-
International Note. If your 0871 number terminates in a country other than the UK then UK customers will be able to call you, but if your customers are outside the UK then they’ll need to call you directly as calls cannot be routed into the UK and back out again. For example, a call cannot originate in Germany come into the UK 08 system, and then be routed to say the USA.
